Directional Auger Boring
Directional Auger Boring is a fully guided trenchless
technique carried out between two prepared shafts, which
are usually manholes. The Directional Auger Boring rig is set up in the launch
shaft and the guided probe is then jacked through the
ground to the reception shaft using laser guidance.
Steel casings carrying auger flights are progressively
installed following the pathway made by the guided probe.
An upsizing motor is attached to the last auger. As the
upsizing motor is jacked into the ground product pipes are
progressively installed at the launch shaft. The augers and
casings are progressively removed at the reception shaft.
On completion of the pipe jacking process the upsizing
motor is removed and the pipe jacked to its final
position. Pipes installed can be steel or vitrified Clay.
